The 12th Hong Kong University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition is one of the most anticipated moments of the year for tertiary student innovators. In recent years, award-winning teams have also gained opportunities to step into international exhibitions and competitions, turning campus creativity into global conversations.
This year in 2026, we at HSUHK and the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) were especially proud to see our students shine among around 700 teams, bringing home two Merit Prizes. Aura Guard (無形守護) was shortlisted for the Final Judging Stage in the Entrepreneur Proposal stream and ultimately received the Merit Prize. Led by Francis Tsang Ping-ting (Master's Year 1, DSAI), with Lun Jian-xi (Master's Year 1, DSAI) as a key team member, the project reflects what we love most about student entrepreneurship: rigorous thinking, bold problem-solving, and the courage to turn a concept into a pitch that stands up to real scrutiny. We were also delighted to celebrate Archipelago (眾嶼), winner of the Merit Prize in the Social Enterprise / Cultural & Creative category, featuring Lau Kin-yeung (Year 1, Supply Chain Management, HSUHK) and Lee Cheuk-hin (Higher Diploma in Enrolled Nursing, Tung Wah College). Their collaboration is a timely reminder that some of the most exciting ideas are born when different disciplines, and different communities, come together.
At CIE, we see these awards as more than trophies. They are proof of learning in action: late nights of iteration, tough questions answered with resilience, and teams growing stronger with every draft and every pitch. We were honoured that Professor Jeanne Fu, Vice President (Learning and Student Experience) and also the Director of CIE, joined the award ceremony, standing alongside our students as they took this well-earned moment on stage.
