E-Challenge 2026 & Start-up Explorer Crafting an Impactful Proposal for Your Business Plan

Turning a campus idea into a business proposal that is clear, convincing, and investor-ready can be challenging. In this workshop, Mr Aaron Au Yeung, Project Manager at Fullness Social Enterprises Society (FSES), a Hong Kong platform that supports and incubates social enterprises, shared a practical, high-impact approach to proposal writing, showing how the right structure and story can turn a raw concept into a pitch that truly lands.

On 10 April 2026, the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) successfully hosted Workshop 2 of the Start-up Explorer Series, titled "Crafting an Impactful Proposal for Your Business Plan".

Rather than relying on generic templates, Aaron took students step by step through the core building blocks of a strong business proposal. He unpacked how to write crisp business statements, highlighted the power of the 5W1H framework, and demonstrated how to connect ideas logically.

To bring the analysis to life, Aaron used Ryanair as a case study, guiding participants on how to dissect a business model with clarity and depth—from positioning and customer needs to the mechanics behind value creation. Students then applied the same thinking through the Business Model Canvas, focusing on how to craft value propositions that speak directly to stakeholders and potential investors.

The session was energised further by real-world start-up examples Aaron brought to the room. From Revolv, which transforms organic waste into affordable animal feed and fertiliser to support farmers in Ethiopia, to smartSTAT, which develops smart code carts that automate hospital emergency supplies, reducing frontline workload, lowering costs, and enhancing patient safety, our workshop participants saw how a compelling proposal is built on both purpose and execution.

The workshop closed with a lively Q&A, where Aaron's approachable facilitation sparked candid discussion and practical takeaways. Students walked away with greater confidence in developing stronger value propositions, refining proposals for coursework, and preparing for the upcoming HSUHK Entrepreneurship Challenge (EChallenge) 2026.
