CIE is excited to announce that the first Training Session of HSUHK Entrepreneurship Challenge 2024 cum HKAI Lab Accelerator Program (Cohort 11) Info Talk with the topic “AI-powered Futures: Unlocking Entrepreneurship and Career Paths”, presented by HKAI LAB, was carried out successfully on 22 Mar 2024.
We were delighted to have invited two speakers. Mr Turzo Bose, Co-founder and CEO of Vidi Labs Ltd (Seekr), shared his expertise in combining AI techniques and user-driven designs to enhance daily interactions with technology, and how to contribute to the society using AI.
Also, Mr Timothy Leung, Executive Director of HKAI Lab, provided insights into fostering AI talent and driving advancements in the field and HKAI Lab’s 12-month Accelerator Programme.

Background of HKAI Lab:
HKAI LAB is a non-profit initiative that was jointly established by Alibaba Hong Kong Entrepreneurs Fund and SenseTime, with the support of Hong Kong Science & Technology Parks Corporation, Alibaba Cloud, and Alibaba DAMO Academy. The main objective of HKAI LAB is to provide support and resources to local AI startups, foster the growth of AI talent within Hong Kong, and drive advancements in AI technology. To achieve these goals, HKAI LAB organizes two accelerator programs annually, with a focus on helping startups commercialize their AI inventions and technologies developed at the lab.
In addition to the accelerator programs, HKAI LAB also conducts various seminars, workshops, and sharing sessions related to AI. These activities are aimed at increasing awareness, promoting understanding, and creating opportunities in the field of AI. HKAI LAB actively collaborates with academic institutions, associations, and corporations to host events and facilitate the development of AI in Hong Kong.
Bio of Timothy Leung, Executive Director of HKAI Lab:
Timothy has accumulated over 20 years of experience in the Information and Internet field. He worked in esteemed companies such as Alibaba, Apple, and PCCW. He is now the Executive Director of the HKAI LAB, which is a not-for-profit initiative fully funded by the Alibaba Hong Kong Entrepreneurs Fund and SenseTime focused on advancing the frontiers of AI with cutting-edge technologies and expertise, and empowering startups to commercialize their new inventions.
Timothy is strong at business strategic planning and implementation. He had managed direct sales teams and channel partners for technology products and internet services, such a background equipped him with comprehensive experience in sales, marketing, product development and senior management. He had many successes in government and private sector partnership development and management.
Timothy’s 20+ years’ experience in the technology field covering Asia, Europe, and Americas. He directly managed staff and partners in Japan, Korea, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Turkey, USA, UK, Italy, Brazil and Peru.
Background of Vidi Labs Ltd (Seekr):
Vidi Labs specializes in combining artificial intelligence techniques and user-driven designs to revolutionize people’s daily interaction with hardware and software. Its core specialization lies in computer vision, mainly on object identification, text and layout recognition, distance estimation, scene recognition, 3D spatial mapping, and other extensions and combinations of the above. Its current focus is on assistive technology and gerontechnology.
Vidi Labs’ product ‘Seekr’ is a compact wearable device designed for visually impaired and elderly individuals to navigate daily life independently and safely with the help of computer vision and a real-time, curated audio feed that guides the user through various activities.
Bio of Turzo Bose, Co-founder and CEO of Vidi Labs:
Turzo Bose, co-founder and CEO of Vidi Labs, is an MPhil candidate from HKUST with a background in computer engineering and project management in Hong Kong, Myanmar and the US over the last 5 years. He spearheads the product design, and leads the tech team in developing software, computer vision algorithms and machine learning models. Turzo also handles the finances and investor relations. His idea of ‘Seekr’ was born when he witnessed his grandfather turn blind, which inspired him to create a solution with his engineering knowledge.
CIE is thrilled that the Training Workshop: “Formation of Business Idea and Presentation Skills” of the upcoming HSUHK Entrepreneurship Challenge 2024 went smoothly on 26 Mar 2024.

We were delighted to have Mr Ernest Chan, Founder and Commercial Director of AESIR.hk, as the trainer of this Workshop. Ernest is a social entrepreneur who led AESIR to win a string of awards, including a silver medal and Special Inventor Award in the International Invention Innovation Competition in Canada (iCAN) 2018. He shared the tips for developing business ideas and presentation skills, including the following topics:
1. Good Business / Business for Good – research
2. Pitching skills with 3 business status – Concept / Prototype / Scale up
3. Funding target: government fund / equity fund / bootstrapping / financing
4. Writing and drafting techniques: preparation with strategic slides flow planning
5. Presentation skills: 30 sec rules / personal branding as founder
6. Resources available with AI / free online tools

Biography of Mr Ernest Chan
Committed to making a difference to the lives of children with special educational needs, Mr Ernest Chan Ho-sing (陳浩升先生) is a social entrepreneur who founded AESIR – Hong Kong ICT Award awardee, a Global Top 500 Tech Startup using AR and VR technologies to create gamified learning solutions for people with dyslexia, autism and other special needs.
By developing mobile apps and motion sensor games, as well as introducing Hong Kong’s first AR positive psychology playbook, AESIR not only supports students’ learning but also enhances their life skills andemotional literacy. With the technological innovation he introduced, Mr Chan has led AESIR to win a string of awards, including a silver medal and Special Inventor Award in the International Invention Innovation Competition in Canada (iCAN) 2018.
