On 17 June 2026 (Wednesday), the Launch Ceremony of the 2026 Guangzhou Science and Technology Innovation Entrepreneurship Competition Global Competition and the HKUST Million Dollar Entrepreneurship Competition Guangzhou Competition was held at the Guangzhou-Hong Kong Technology and Industry Integration Innovation Centre, Hong Kong Science Park. The Competition is jointly organised by the Guangzhou Municipal Science and Technology Bureau and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and co-organised by the Guangzhou HKUST Fok Ying Tung Research Institute and the Guangzhou Science and Technology Progress Foundation, with the aim of promoting international technological exchange and cooperation and bringing together outstanding innovation projects and talents from around the world. The launch ceremony was attended by representatives from the universities, investment institutions, and industry players.
The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong was invited to attend the launch ceremony. Representatives from the Global Affairs Office (GAO) and the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) were both present. The University was presented with a Supporting Unit Certificate, accepted by Dr. Yau, Head of GAO, on behalf of the University, recognising its continued commitment to youth innovation and entrepreneurship. During the event, CIE representatives and Dr. Yau actively engaged with attending start-up teams and guests, sharing the University's experience in entrepreneurship incubation.
This launch ceremony offers a total cash prize pool of RMB 2 million while the winning project teams will receive comprehensive support packages and will have the opportunity to advance to the National Final of the HKUST Million Dollar Entrepreneurship Competition to compete for a cash grand prize of RMB 1 million. The final will be held in Nansha, Guangzhou. We sincerely congratulate the successful launch of the competition and thank the organisers for their careful preparation.
